The size limits at D2M are not a scheduling constraint. They are a quality commitment. When your instructor can see every client in the room clearly, form gets corrected, modifications get offered, and progress actually happens.
The Reformer is a precision instrument. At D2M, Reformer group classes are capped at 3 clients so that every participant receives hands-on correction, individualized resistance settings, and real-time cueing throughout the entire session — not just a general cue called across a crowded room.
Mat Pilates is the original form of the practice — and in the hands of a STOTT PILATES® certified instructor with props and small apparatus, it is a rigorous, full-body conditioning system. D2M Mat classes are capped at 5 so that form, alignment, and breath are never sacrificed for class size.
At most fitness studios, a group Pilates class means 15–25 clients, an instructor calling cues from the front of the room, and zero ability to address individual movement dysfunction. If your hip flexors are compensating, your lumbar spine is overloading, or one side is weaker than the other — no one in that class is going to catch it.
D2M's class size limits exist because of one principle: the instructor must be able to see, assess, and correct every client in the room. At 3 clients on Reformers, Devi can watch every movement pattern, adjust every spring setting, and offer hands-on correction as needed. At 5 clients on mats, the same quality of observation and cueing is maintained throughout.
You get the energy, accountability, and cost structure of a group class. You also get instruction quality that most studios reserve only for private clients. That is the D2M standard — in every format, at every session size.
3 or 5 clients means your instructor can see you, correct you, and modify for you throughout the class. This is the single most important factor separating D2M group classes from any large studio format.
Training alongside others creates a motivational dynamic that solo or private training cannot fully replicate. Regular class participants build routines, friendships, and levels of consistency that transform health outcomes over time.
Reformer classes utilize the full Reformer suite. Mat classes incorporate Arc Barrel, Spine Corrector, magic circle, bands, and props. Neither format is equipment-limited or generic in its approach.
Every class at D2M is built on the STOTT PILATES® methodology — the world's most clinically rigorous Pilates system, grounded in modern exercise science and rehabilitation principles. You are not doing fitness-class Pilates.
Because the class is small enough to see everyone, modifications for injuries, limitations, or asymmetries are always offered — proactively, not only when a client raises their hand. No one is ever pushed through pain.
D2M group classes follow progressive programming principles — building strength, stability, and movement complexity over time so returning clients continue to develop rather than plateau on the same sequence week after week.
The fitness industry has broadly adopted the word "Pilates" to describe any group exercise class performed on a Reformer or mat. The result is a market full of high-energy, low-precision workouts that share the equipment but not the methodology. D2M group classes are built on a fundamentally different standard.
The class size limits are not a marketing claim. They are a structural commitment to the quality of instruction every client deserves — regardless of whether they are in a private session or a group class.
What is the difference between the Reformer group class and the Mat group class?
Reformer group classes are capped at 3 clients and use the full STOTT Reformer apparatus with individual spring resistance settings per client. Mat group classes are capped at 5 clients and use the mat alongside props and small apparatus including the Arc Barrel, Spine Corrector, resistance bands, and magic circle. Both formats use the STOTT PILATES® methodology with individual cueing and modifications throughout.
Do I need experience to join a group class?
Beginners are welcome in both formats. Because class sizes are strictly capped, the instructor can guide newer clients through foundational movements while continuing to challenge more experienced participants. We recommend at least one private or duet introductory session for complete beginners to establish your movement baseline before joining a group class.
How is a D2M group class different from a boutique Reformer studio?
Boutique Reformer studios typically run classes of 10–25 clients using a scripted, uniform sequence where everyone performs the same exercise at the same resistance. D2M Reformer classes are capped at 3 clients, follow the evidence-based STOTT PILATES® method, and include individual spring adjustment, hands-on correction, and specific modifications for every client in the room.
Can I attend group classes alongside private or duet sessions?
Yes — and many clients find this combination highly effective. Private or duet sessions build your individualized neuromuscular foundation; group classes reinforce those patterns in a community context and add frequency to your training week at a different investment level.
Which class format is right for me — Reformer or Mat?
Both formats deliver a rigorous, full-body STOTT Pilates experience. Reformer classes offer greater resistance variability, support for spine-neutral positions, and apparatus-assisted progressions. Mat classes with props are accessible, travel-transferable, and excellent for building the foundational body-weight strength and control that underpins all Pilates work. Many clients benefit from both. Contact us to discuss which format fits your goals and current fitness level.
Group class spots at D2M fill quickly — by design. Reserve your session online or call to check current availability in both formats.
